Pakistan’s impressive young pace bowler Shaheen Afridi is still on the road to recovery after suffering a shoulder injury which hampered his performances in the recently concluded Sri Lanka-Pakistan series.
Shaheen Afridi has been having problems with his shoulder for the last few weeks, which led to him missing a crucial match in the recently concluded Sri Lanka-Pakistan one-day series.
Shaheen Afridi has since been taking extra precaution and working hard in the nets in order to get back to full fitness. Pakistan’s fast-bowling coach Azhar Mahmood confirmed that Shaheen is being monitored by a team of experts and is making progress.
Mahmood also added that Shaheen and the team management are doing everything possible to make sure that his condition does not deteriorate further.
The 20-year-old pace bowler has been a great asset for Pakistan and a regular in the national side, impressing many with his pace and accuracy in limited overs and first-class cricket.
Apart from the Sri Lanka-Pakistan series, Shaheen also featured in the T20 series against South Africa in early 2021 and the Asia Cup in 2020.
Pakistan will be hoping that Shaheen can make a full recovery soon in order for him to contribute to the team’s successes in upcoming international matches.
Shaheen Afridi still ‘Trying to Get Back to Full Fitness’
Shaheen Afridi, the rising Pakistani cricketer, is still on his way to recovering full fitness. Afridi has been struggling with a back injury, which forced him to miss the tour of South Africa earlier this year.
Afridi’s Back Trouble
Afridi revealed that he has been suffering from back pain since the World Cup in 2019 and the situation deteriorated during the England series this summer. After being unable to sleep or exercise, the all-rounder underwent scans, which indicated muscle tightness and a reduced range of motion.
Afridi has since followed a comprehensive rehabilitation program, designed to gradually ease him back into full fitness. The program, which is monitored by a team of medical professionals, has been tailored specifically to his condition.
Diet and Exercise Regime
Part of Afridi’s rehabilitation program involves a strict diet and exercise regime, designed to strengthen and support his condition. The diet places emphasis on eating high-fiber, nutrient-rich foods to aid recovery, while exercise sees Afridi engaging in a range of core-strengthening exercises, breathing techniques and stretching exercises.
Return to Competitive Cricket
Despite the successful progress of his rehabilitation, Afridi is still striving to reach full fitness with an eye on making a return to competitive cricket. He said that he hopes to get back to full strength before the upcoming Asia Cup, scheduled to take place in June 2021.
Afridi has been advised to take things slow and not to reintroduce himself to cricket before he has full mobility and is back to full fitness. This determination and dedication to recovery are admirable, and with Afridi’s excellent performance in the past, fans are eagerly awaiting his return to the pitch.
We wish Shaheen Afridi the best of luck and a speedy recovery!
